Kiribati - 22 September 2025 Procurasphere Sourcing and Procurement, a Dutch company, has been given a USD 223,670 contract by the World Bank to supply materials and processing equipment for the Pacific Islands Regional Oceanscape Program in Kiribati. Under procurement number KI-MFMRD-490397-GO-RFQ, the deal was signed on September 22, 2025.Project SummaryThe Pacific Islands Regional Oceanscape Program (Project ID: P165821), a significant regional endeavour funded by grant IDA-D5570 from the International Development Association (IDA), includes this contract. The programme's objectives are to improve the economic benefits of marine resources throughout the Pacific, strengthen fisheries governance, and improve sustainable ocean management. The project's main objective in Kiribati is to enhance the Central Pacific Producers Limited (CPPL) facility in Kiritimati, one of the country's major hubs for fish processing and export. The recently acquired machinery will improve production efficiency, update processing facilities, and guarantee adherence to global standards for handling and exporting fish.Participating entitiesThe implementing agency was Kiribati's Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources Development (MFMRD), which oversaw the procurement via the Request for Quotation (RFQ) technique. Procurasphere Sourcing and Procurement, a worldwide provider with expertise in locating industrial and technical equipment for development projects, was given the contract. The government's efforts to create sustainable blue economy practices are supported by the World Bank's involvement, which guarantees adherence to international procurement norms.Importance and Effect An important step towards increasing Kiribati's involvement in the regional fisheries value chain is the investment in Kiritimati's processing infrastructure. The project is anticipated to boost export capacity, provide local jobs, and raise revenue for coastal communities by modernising facilities and guaranteeing product quality. Additionally, the project supports Kiribati's national goals for sustainable fisheries management by striking a balance between economic expansion and marine ecosystem preservation. Additionally, the acquisition supports the larger regional objective of fortifying the Pacific Islands' Oceanscape Framework, which prioritises long-term ocean health, shared governance, and openness.Future ProspectsAfter they are put into use, the improved CPPL facilities will be crucial in helping Kiribati's fish processing industry and increasing its GDP contribution. The World Bank's ongoing assistance through the Oceanscape Program demonstrates its dedication to promoting resilient island economies and sustainable living throughout the Pacific.Latest Government Tenders and Contract Awards in Kiribati - TendersOnTimeTendersOnTime - Your trusted source for latest government tenders, RFPs, RFQs, and contract awards in kiribati Stay updated with the latest public procurement opportunities and tender notices in kiribati at TendersOnTime Find all kiribati government tenders, eProcurement updates, and contract award notices on TendersOnTimeExplore live tenders, bids, and procurement opportunities in kiribati with TendersOnTime - The global tender portalTendersOnTime brings you verified tenders, procurement news, and contract awards from ki and worldwideTags: #Kiribati #WorldBank #OceanscapeProgram #ContractAward #ProcurementNews #FisheriesDevelopment #BlueEconomy #SustainableOceans #MarineResources #Procurasphere #InfrastructureDevelopment #PacificIslands #IDAProjects #TenderResults
