Description:
The Ministry of Employment and Human Resource (MEHR), with technical support from the International Labour Organization (ILO), is undertaking a review of the Kiribati Minimum Wage. The review aims to ensure that minimum wage levels remain fair, sustainable, and aligned with national socio-economic conditions while promoting decent work and social protection for all workers.The current minimum wage in Kiribati, established in 2016, no longer reflects the changing cost of living, inflation, and evolving labour market conditions. In line with the Employment and Industrial Relations Code (EIRC) 2015 and ILO Convention No. 131 on Minimum Wage Fixing, the review process seeks to balance worker needs and employer capacity through evidence-based analysis and tripartite dialogue.Given that the ILO Wage Specialist will provide remote technical guidance, MEHR requires the services of a Local Technical Advisor (TA) to provide in-country technical and coordination support during the critical validation and reporting phase of the review.
